Project Overview
My Role
Disorder is a short film that explores the impact of societal beauty standards on mental health, focusing on body image anxiety and the struggle to redefine self-worth. Through slow-paced introspection and fast-paced, fragmented moments, the film captures its protagonist's inner conflict and emotional journey. Disorder combines immersive sound design, soft visuals, and dynamic storytelling to inspire empathy and conversation.

Shotlist
The lo-fi design phase for the project focused on creating two horizontal prototypes: a "Shopping Shelves" interface and a "Shopping Employee" chatbot interface. These designs explored intuitive ways for users to compare grocery items based on price and nutritional details, dietary restrictions and budgets. The "Shopping Shelves" design utilized a familiar metaphor of physical store shelves, allowing side-by-side comparisons in a basket feature. The "Shopping Employee" design simulated a conversational experience with a virtual assistant, guiding users through tailored recommendations. Both prototypes emphasized high-level navigation, essential features, and usability feedback, serving as a foundation for further refinement and testing.

Project Planning Stategies
For this short film project, we followed a traditional waterfall approach. With a structured approach, we ensured that all planning and goal setting was done at the beginning, with tasks flowing sequentially from one stage to the next. Here are the specific strategies:
Initiation Phase
Collectively set the project goals, theme, tone, and stylistic vision to ensure everyone is aligned and major changes are avoided later.
Role-Based Responsibility Assignment
The team of six divided responsibilities based on individual strengths and expertise.Sub-groups were formed for:
-
Shooting: Handling cinematography, lighting, and on-set direction.
-
Editing: Focusing on post-production, including cutting footage, sound design, and color grading.
-
Staging/Design: Managing set design, props, and visual coherence.
Sequiential Workflow
Linear Process: Tasks were completed step-by-step, with minimal overlap:
-
Pre-production: Goals, themes, and roles established; storyboarding and planning completed.
-
Production: Shooting sub-group executed the scenes according to the storyboard.
-
Post-production: Editing sub-group polished the footage, added sound and effects, and finalized the film.
-
Review and Integration: All sub-groups reconvened to double-check progress and provide feedback, ensuring the final product met the initial goals.
Team Collaboration and Review
After each major phase, our team gathered to review and double-check the work, ensuring alignment with the established vision.
